Planned Emissions Summary

Based on the ODEQ air permit application, the facility would emit the following pollutants:

PollutantProposed EmissionDetails
Hydrogen Fluoride (HF)~425 tons/yearClassified as extremely hazardous substance by EPA. Bioaccumulates in livestock; 1979 Cornwall Island study documented herd collapse at ~300 tons/year.
Nitrogen Oxides (NOx)~2,200 tons/yearMajor source. Contributes to ground-level ozone and respiratory illness. Major contributor to regional air quality degradation.
Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs)Multiple compoundsIncludes volatile organic compounds, metals, and other toxic substances regulated under Clean Air Act.
Sulfur Dioxide (SO₂)Major sourceContributes to acid rain and respiratory problems. Regulatory oversight required at this scale.
Fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5)Significant levelsContains heavy metals and metallic dust. Penetrates deep into lungs; causes respiratory and cardiovascular disease.

Note: The 1979 Cornwall Island study documented full cattle herd collapse within 5 miles of a smelter emitting ~300 tons/year of fluoride. The Inola facility projects ~425 tons/year — significantly higher.
